Thesis Formatting and Deposit Workshops
This video guide is about thesis formatting, thesis proposal format.
First, according to most thesis proposal formats, students will offer a brief description of the ideas that they wish to explore and the reasons they believe those ideas are valid. If the writer has progressed sufficiently in the idea's development, he or she may offer a working thesis statement, which should mention each major point that the thesis will make.
Also, your instructor may require a thesis statement for your paper.
Second, the university department may require within their thesis proposal format guidelines that students include a bibliography of the sources they have consulted thus far. At this point, students should have conducted a fair amount of research, but they should be aware that the major professor may redirect the and open up new areas of study.
The first paragraph of the body shouldcontain the strongest argument, most significant example, cleverest illustration, or an obvious beginning point. The firstsentence of this paragraph should include the "reverse hook" whichties in with the transitional hook at the end of the introductoryparagraph. The topic for this paragraph should be in the first orsecond sentence. This topic should relate to the thesis statementin the introductory paragraph. The last sentence in thisparagraph should include a transitional hook to tie into thesecond paragraph of the body. Basically, the conclusion restates the introduction. So just reiterate questions 1, 2, and 3. It is also helpful to trace your argument as you made it within the essay. A good way to do this is to create a proof that might look something like this:
POINT ONE+POINT TWO+POINT THREE=THESIS
POINT ONE leads to POINT TWO which leads to POINT THREE therefore THESIS is true! The third paragraph of the body shouldcontain the weakest argument, weakest example, weakestillustration, or an obvious follow up to the second paragraph inthe body. The first sentence of this paragraph should include thereverse hook which ties in with the transitional hook at the endof the second paragraph. The topic for this paragraph should bein the first or second sentence. This topic should relate to thethesis statement in the introductory paragraph. The last sentencein this paragraph should include a transitional concluding hookthat signals the reader that this is the final major point beingmade in this paper. This hook also leads into the last, orconcluding, paragraph.First, one may wish to review a in order to determine the proper tone, style, or format for thesis writing, because those answers are often more readily available through reading example theses than through browsing style manuals. If students wish to review thesis samples for this type of purpose, they should be sure to obtain papers that excellent writers produced recently, because style and formatting considerations change fairly frequently in minute ways.
